Puerto Rico (16.10.17): Private security forces have been ordered into Puerto Rico from the United States as a response to the recent disrupt caused by Hurricane Maria. The security personnel are being recruited to provide humanitarian and armed security services.

Liberia (16.10.17): Liberian private security firm Monrovia has recently been ordered to pay over $600,000 US dollars as a result of the Ministry of Labour ruling it liable for unfair labour practices against employees. The company has been ordered to pay 38 persons who had been subject to discrimination.

Malaysia (25.10.17): Malaysia’s Deputy Prime Minister Datuk Seri Dr Ahmad Hamidi Zahid announced that private security companies will be subject to tighter monitoring by the Home Ministry to ensure strict procurement practices when hiring security guards. The Minister also stated that companies who fail to undergo a proper screening of guard’s documentation and criminal backgrounds will have their operating license revoked.
